It's that time of the week again – CBC Hamilton reporter Adam Carter is back with his three picks for new Ontario music that you need to listen to this week.
Adam is on the air each week on CBC Radio for In the Key of C, hosted by Craig Norris. He'll choose three Ontario bands or artists that are releasing new music for your listening pleasure. Here are this week's picks:
Terra Lightfoot - Lily's Fair
With each track from her new album, Hamilton's Terra Lightfoot leaps forward both as a songwriter and a performer. Songwriting is a craft, and she's mastering it.
Lily's Fair is her latest, and it's a full-on roots rock anthem. You can hear it in this video, which is an ode to her battered Gibson SG named Veronica.
Coleman Hell: Thumbalina
Little people everywhere, you've finally got an anthem — courtesy of Thunder Bay's Coleman Hell.
Thumbalina is a pop track made for the small-statured, and it is ridiculously catchy.
It's named after Hans Christian Andersen's especially pint-size character, but it'll resonate with anybody who feels small from time to time.
JJ and The Pillars – The Wolves
Peterborough's JJ and the Pillars play an infectious kind of folk rock hybrid.
And though it's nowhere near as heavy – or as punky – the backbeat is reminiscent of Flogging Molly.
