Hamilton Police say that you have the right to "walk away" when not under investigation, making a change to their public brochure after consultation with anti-racism advocates.
It comes in response to police recognizing interactions with citizens who are not under investigation that are recorded — a practice anti-racism advocates call "carding." Read more about the changes here.

More details emerged about Dakota Hart, the man accused of attempting to take a young boy from the playground at the west Hamilton public school last year, in court Thursday. Among them, court documents show Hart picked up an election sign, tore away the display part and held the metal post portion to the boy's face while yelling at him. Hart then walked off with the boy.
