It's that time of the week again – CBC Hamilton reporter Adam Carter is back with his three picks for new Ontario music that you need to listen to this week.
Adam is on the air each week on CBC Radio for In the Key of C, hosted by Craig Norris. He'll choose three Ontario bands or artists that are releasing new music for your listening pleasure. Here are this week's picks:
DB Cooper: The Election
Hamilton's DB Cooper knows how to write a pop hook. This tune will no doubt stick in your head right away, largely on the strength of these vocals.
This new music video is definitely worth a watch, too — but apologies to anyone who has some deeply repressed memories about fourth grade dodgeball games that it drags up, though.
Red Arms: Quiet Resolution
This track from London's Red Arms is one part early Foo Fighters and one part Keith Moon drum madness.
It's a solid track with some smart lyrics and a melody that sticks with you long after the track is done.
Terra Lightfoot: Never Will
Last up this week is Never Will, a brand new track from Hamilton singer-songwriter Terra Lightfoot.
Lightfoot has that classic old soul's voice and lyricism, but trapped in a young woman's body. She sings and writes with a real beauty and conviction.
While her last record was more solemn, this is one of the most upbeat and driving tracks she's ever written, and it's a total winner. Nobody can deny how fun and catchy this tune is.
