The Fire Marshal's office has been notified of a fire in Hamilton's east end that resulted in an estimated half-million dollars in damages.

Hamilton Fire responded to a truck repair shop on Kenora Ave. Saturday night. Crews found Marshall Truck and Trailer Repair engulfed in flames with heavy smoke, and were forced to call additional units.

The fire was believed to have started in the front cab of a dumpster truck before spreading onto the building's roof.

Hamilton Fire said in a press release that an "aggressive interior fire attack" limited the damages to the roof and front office.

City inspectors were called to the truck repair shop to assess the building's structural integrity. Hamilton Fire also said the Office of the Fire Marshal was notified because of the estimated cost of the damages.
