cold weather

(CBC)

The extreme cold weather has broken a record for Hamilton. At -25 C, this temperature is nearly a full five degrees lower than the previous record of -20.6 C set in 1968.

Adding in the wind chill, Hamiltonians woke up to temperatures that felt like -32 C. But there's some warmer news too.

The high for Friday is -11 C. That's a pretty considerable temperature jump inside one day.

It could be worse. In 2011, 58 cm of snow fell on this day. By contrast, the warmest this day has ever been, according to Environment Canada's historical weather data, is 12.1 degrees in 1990.
