An assault at a house party early Wednesday sent one 24-year-old man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His injuries have been treated, he was released and is being interviewed about the incident. Hamilton Police detectives blocked off the scene of the assault Wednesday morning and are continuing to investigate, spokesman Cst. Stephen Welton said.

There was a gathering or house party of five people at the address, 218 Parkdale Avenue North, and a young man was "ejected" from the party, Welton said. He came back to the party, there was an altercation, and he suffered a head injury.

"Alcohol was a factor involved at this party," Welton said.

Police and emergency crews responded to a call at 4:11 a.m.

Two people have been taken into custody, Welton said.
