Hamilton weather, traffic and more: Daystarter Thursday

Wednesday night's GO Bus rollover on Highway 407 that left one dead and three injured, including the driver, was on the Hamilton to York University route, which picks up passengers from the downtown and McMaster University. 

So far, details on the deceased have yet to be released, but CBC Hamilton will keep readers up to date as this story develops.

In the meantime, bundle up. Despite less of an effect, the wind chill is making it feel like -22 C in Hamilton Thursday morning. Here's what you need to know:

GO Transit is reporting a number of delays with a signalling malfunction between Bronte and Appleby Station at the root of the problem. Trains have been delayed up to 40 minutes. Delayed trains include the 8:08 a.m., 8:31 a.m., and 9:31 a.m. train leaving Aldershot for Union Station.

There are no traffic delays related to Hamilton routes towards Toronto so far, 7:33 a.m.

There are no cold warnings in effect, but it still is chilly out there. 

Expect a mix of sun and cloud, with a 40 per cent chance of flurries and a high of -6 C. The chance of flurries jumps to 60 per cent Thursday evening, with the temperature sitting at -13 C, feeling like -22 C, to start the day. 

The weekend is expected to bring temperatures above the freezing mark, with a Saturday high forecast of 2 C.

As mentioned earlier, one woman is dead and three people are injured from a GO Bus rollover on Highway 407. The bus left Hamilton for York University at 8:30 p.m. Find out more as this story develops here.

Hamilton taxpayers will be paying more to subsidize minor hockey, figure skating and ringette ice times this year. A report the finance committee shows the city will pay 64 per cent of the costs, up 14 per cent from the original 50-50 deal they have with youth sports who rent the ice. The issues is not just increasing costs, but dropping enrolment in hockey, too.
