Hamilton weather, traffic and more: Daystarter Tuesday

Written By Unknown on Selasa, 09 Desember 2014 | 22.46

Happy Tuesday, Hamilton. It's pretty mild out there today, so enjoy a break from the cold – but grab a jacket or umbrella as it looks like rain.

Traffic is mostly moving well throughout the city, but there are some delays on the QEW because of a collision near Appleby Line.

If you're getting gas this morning, the cheapest price in the city is 99.9 at the Costco at 100 Legend Court near Golf Links Road in Ancaster.

GO Transit isn't reporting delays on lines connecting with Hamilton this morning.

Here's what police are reporting on the roads:

  • Cleared: 403 Eastbound at Highway 6 North, Dundas. 7:23 a.m.
  • Collision: Binbrook Road and Fletcher Road in Glanbrook. Binbrook Road is shut down in both directions. 7:22 a.m.
  • Collision: Upper James Street and White Church Road. 6:47 a.m.
  • Cleared: Collision on the QEW Toronto-bound at Third line in Oakville. 6:40 a.m.

Today's forecast calls for cloudy skies with a 70 per cent chance of rain showers or wet flurries changing to 30 per cent chance of rain showers this morning. Wind becoming north 20 km/h late this afternoon. High 4 C.

Mainly cloudy tomorrow with a 30 per cent chance of rain showers changing to 30 per cent chance of flurries late this evening. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50. Low -4 C.

Wednesday's forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a 60 per cent chance of flurries in the evening. High -1 C.

Today's photo comes from Tourism Hamilton, with a shot that's about as festive as it gets:

The city won't have empirical evidence until next year on whether Hamilton's downtown transit lane was a success. But at least one councillor says he doesn't need to wait until then to find out — he wants to make it legal to drive on now.

Coun. Chad Collins plans to push a vote on Wednesday in favour of stopping enforcement on the lane — which would effectively end the bus-only experiment. Normally, motorists are ticketed $65 for driving in the lane.

And an Ancaster councillor says traffic woes after the York Boulevard mudslide would have been eased if the city had erected signs for emergency detour routes that were approved months ago.

Coun. Lloyd Ferguson says traffic would have run smoother after a Nov. 28 slope failure that deadlocked vehicles at Highway 403 eastbound and York Boulevard. It also slowed them to a crawl in some other parts of the city, adding hours to routes. The traffic woes continued for days.

Best give up now, you're never going to beat this light show:
