Hamilton weather, traffic and more: Daystarter Wednesday

Written By Unknown on Rabu, 10 Desember 2014 | 22.46

Happy hump day, Hamilton. You're at the halfway point of your work week. There's a special weather statement today from Environment Canada warning of snowfall, with flurries amounting to as much as 10 centimetres.

GO Transit is delayed by about 15 minutes leaving Hamilton. Traffic is mostly moving well throughout the city.

If you're getting gas this morning, the cheapest price in the city is 98.9 at Global, 1294 Highway 6 and 8th Concession Road East in Flamborough.

GO Transit is reporting a delay on the Lakeshore West train line from Hamilton to Toronto. The trains that left Hamilton GO Centre earlier this morning were delayed between five and 17 minutes because of freight train traffic. All buses are running on time. 8:33 a.m.

OPP report that three right lanes previously blocked in the 401 eastbound collectors at Leslie Street are cleared. 9:49 a.m.

OPP are reporting no collisions on the QEW or 403. There are also no reported collisions on Hamilton roads.

It'll be cloudy today with a 60 per cent chance of flurries early this morning. We'll see a mix of sun and cloud, and wind gusting north 30 to 50 kilometres an hour. Temperatures will stay steady around -1 C.

Wednesday night will see cloudy skies, with snow and local blowing snow beginning this evening. Hamilton is expected to see about five centimetres tonight. Wind will continue gusting northwest up to 50 kilometres per hour. Low -4 C.

For Thursday, we'll see periods of snow and local blowing snow in Hamilton, and two to four centimetres. Wind will gust northwest up to 50 kilometres per hour. High -1 C.

On Friday, skies will be a mix of sun and cloud. Temperatures will be a low of -3 C and a high of 1 C.

The city's general issues committee is expected to vote this morning to stop enforcing the downtown transit lane. Staff expect to present a report in January, but some councillors say they don't want to wait until then. They want to make it legal to drive on it now. CBC Hamilton reporter Jeff Green will cover and tweet.

Backing up isn't everyone's thing. This video, dubbed "Calgary's worst driver," went viral and resulted in police issuing a $115 "unsafe backing" ticket.
