Hamilton police are asking for the public's help in the search for a 15-year-old girl who has been missing for more than two weeks.

Kayla Wood has been missing since Sept. 23, Hamilton police said in Friday statement.

"Police and her family are concerned for her well being," the statement reads.

Officials gave the following description of Wood:

  • Five feet seven inches tall
  • 117 pounds
  • Straight, shoulder-length blonde hair
  • Last seen wearing black pants, a blue and grey jacket and carrying a white purse

Wood was originally reported missing on Sept. 23, said Hamilton police spokeswoman Debbie McGreal-Dinning. Police then took "investigative steps" to locate Wood but weren't successful — leading investigators to appeal to the public for help in the search.

Wood was last seen on the Mountain and spends time in both the Hamilton and Niagara regions, McGreal-Dinning said.

Investigators ask anyone with information on Wood's whereabouts to call Division Three police at 905-546-4930.
