Hamilton weather, traffic and more: Daystarter Monday

Written By Unknown on Senin, 22 September 2014 | 22.46

Happy Monday, Hamilton.

That bout of cooler than usual temperatures we've been soldiering through should back off a little starting tomorrow, with warmer weather and sun in the forecast for most of the week.

If you're getting gas this morning, the cheapest price in the area is 120.9 at the Costco at 100 Legend Court near Golf Links Road in Ancaster.

The Oakville GO 7:05 a.m. to Union Station 7:45 a.m. train is delayed by just over six minutes this morning.

Here are the issues police are reporting on the roads:

  • Collision: QEW Toronto bound on the upside of the Burlington Skyway: 2 vehicles blocking the left lane, no injuries, tow truck at scene. 8:40 a.m.
  • Collision: Hwy403 EB at Hwy 6 North, Dundas: 2 vehicles on the right shoulder, tow truck at scene, no injuries. 8:32 a.m.
  • Collision: QEW Fort Erie bound at Hwy 403, Oakville: 2 vehicles blocking the left lane, no injuries, ambulance, tow truck at scene. 7:49 a.m.
  • A collision on King Street West and Hess Street South. 7:37 a.m.
  • A collision on Serman Avenue North and King Street East. 7:28 a.m.
  • Hazard: QEW Toronto bound at Fairview St, Burlington: Disabled tractor trailer blocking a ramp lane. 7:05 a.m.
  • A collision on North Service Road. 6:45 a.m.

Today will be mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers early this morning. Clearing this afternoon. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 late this morning. High 14 C. UV index 4 or moderate.

Tonight should be cool with a low of 6 C and a few clouds.

Tomorrow's forecast is calling for mainly sunny skies and a high of 21 C, with sunshine and temperatures in the 20s all week.

Those melt-on-your-tongue mouthwash strips on sale at the grocery checkout don't just zap your foul-smelling pizza breath — it turns out they have spawned potentially life-saving public-health innovations, too.

Scientists with the Biointerfaces Institute at McMaster University are using a compound found in the breath-freshening film to create what they say is a simpler, more cost-effective method of administering vaccines in low-income countries.

And a 41-year-old Hamilton man has been charged after he allegedly took out a knife inside a Toronto-bound GO bus Saturday night.

Heavily armed police officers stormed a GO bus full of passengers around 9:45 p.m. after reports about a person with a knife. The driver had stopped the Hamilton-Toronto bus on the QEW near Royal Windsor Drive in east Oakville.

Chances are, this guy is in better shape than you:
