For roughly one hour Wednesday night in Hamilton, if you had an emergency and called 9-1-1 there was no one available to answer.

Hamilton Police say a scheduled electrical upgrade "unexpectedly" brought down 911 service. Police say they were able to track phone calls that were being made to the 911 service, and call people back individually during the 60-minute outage which lasted roughly until midnight.

Police say they used social media and their corporate telephone lines during the disruption of service.
