A top ensemble in Hamilton Children's Choir, the 45-member group Illumini, is in South Korea this week to perform in a prestigious vocal competition. The choir is the only Canadian choir to be invited to sing in the World Symposium on Choral Music in Seoul.

The choir arrived in Seoul, which is 13 hours ahead of Hamilton, and just performed at the event's opening ceremonies Wednesday evening. "Illumini" means "brighten" in Esperanto. 

The event includes 25 choirs from around the world, and the choristers are enjoying their international experiences. They've discovered their bath towels are much smaller than they're used to. And a typical eggs-and-toast breakfast had a distinct accent: kimchi. 

Choir representatives are keeping the group's blog updated with details like these and the group's schedule over the next few days, including a tour and performance at the Canadian embassy.
