A Midsummer's Dream

Hamilton's Midsummer's Dream festival isn't the only multicoloured party on the block anymore, but organizers say they want the event to take root in Hamilton and become a staple in the city's busy festival circuit.

The festival is a homage to the Holi Festival of Colours in South Asia, where people celebrate by hurling coloured power at each other.

The third edition of the festival features colour tosses, food, music, yoga and an all-day sports field.

There will also be an arts and craft tent called "Temple of Creativity." The pay-what-you-can tent gives you access to a do-it-yourself craft table, with the proceeds going to McMaster Children's Hospital.

The event is free, but attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food donations for the Living Rock food bank.

For more information, visit Midsummer's Dream's website.

Time: noon to 9:30 p.m., Aug. 16, 2014.

Location: Gage Park.

Cost: Free/pay what you can/donations.

There is also a kid zone with bouncy castle, sweet treats and face painting. The bouncy castle is supervised at all times.
