Two Hamilton police officers faced assault allegations during two separate police act appearances at police headquarters Monday morning.

According to police act documents, Const. Stephen Daniels was found guilty on Feb. 21 of criminal charges for assault. Daniels appeared Monday and will be back for another hearing on Sept. 10, where it's expected he'll enter a guilty plea.

The second appearance was for Const. Steven Wowk, who is facing two discreditable conduct charges — both for assault. According to police act documents, these allegations stem from two separate incidents — one from Oct. 28 2013 and another that took place in June of 2010.

Wowk is also set to appear before the tribunal on Sept. 10. Prosecutor Marco Visentini says he hasn't yet spoken to the crown prosecutor involved in Wowk's criminal trial, but said he "doesn't see us going forward before the criminal charges are dealt with."

All of the incidents happened while the officers were off duty, officials say.
