Hamilton Daystarter Wednesday: Weather, traffic and more

Written By Unknown on Rabu, 11 Juni 2014 | 22.46

Pack your umbrella, Hamilton — it's going to be a wet one outside.

In a special weather statement issued early on Wednesday morning, Environment Canada said the city may experience "heavy showers" with rainfall tallies in the 30 to 40 mm range.

A risk of a thunderstorm is also in the forecast, so consider yourself warned.

GO Transit isn't reporting any major delays on its train and bus lines running in and out of Hamilton.

Ontario Provincial Police aren't reporting any collisions on Hamilton-area highways, but warn motorists to drive carefully in the rain.

Showers and a risk of a thunderstorm are in the forecast for Hamilton on Wednesday morning, with a 20 km/h northeast wind that's expected to veer west early in the afternoon. Despite the showers, it's expected to stay warm. A high of 25 C is in the forecast for the day.

The showers are set to continue into Wednesday night. Rainfall of 10 to 20 mm, a risk of a thunderstorm and a low of 16 C are in store for Hamilton overnight.

Will wet weather have an impact on the outcome of the Ontario provincial election? Perhaps we'll find out. Cloudy skies and a 40 per cent chance of rain — again with a risk of a thunderstorm — are in the forecast for Thursday. Fog patches from overnight are expected to dissipate in the morning. A high of 23 C is in store for the day.

He's stopping short of calling it a reconsideration. Or a partnership. But Bob Morrow wants the city to work with the school board again on the new high school at Scott Park.

The ward 3 councillor will introduce a vaguely worded motion to city council on Wednesday asking for "discussions" about "the future of the current Scott Park lands."

CBC Hamilton reporter Samatha Craggs will be at the meeting following the developments.

Presumably, car horns have been ringing out a lot more than normal on a particular stretch of Main Street East. Jon Muldoon's photo fills us in on why.

Being stuck overnight in an airport all by one's self is, by most accounts, not much fun. But when he had to spend the night alone inside Las Vegas's McCarran International Airport, Moncton-raised Georgia resident Richard Dunn made the best of a bad situation — by shooting a music video of himself lip-synching to Celine Dion's schmaltzy '90s rendition of the Eric Carmen classic All By Myself. It's pretty fantastic.
