The results are in from Hamilton police's long weekend traffic initiative — and according to the results, plenty of drivers have a lead foot.

There were 644 drivers pulled over for speeding in the city from Friday, May 14 to Monday, May 20.

Here are some other stats from the weekend:

  • 17 impaired driving/over 80/care and control arrests
  • 24 seat belt infractions
  • 99 aggressive driving offences
  • 36 distracted driving offences
  • 27 cyclist violations

All told, there were 830 highway traffic offences and 17 criminal offences over the holiday weekend.

"The Hamilton Police Support Services Division would like to thank all of those motorists who were in compliance over the Victoria Day Long-Weekend and who contributed to keeping our roads safe," police said in a news release.
