Queen Victoria: A Woman of Influence
Learn more about Queen Victoria and the 64-year era in which she reigned. Re-enactors at Westfield Heritage Village will be holding demonstrations on the fashion, food, politics, technology and etiquette of the time period.
The event runs on Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is $11 for adults, $6.50 for children aged six to 12, and $10 for seniors, students and persons with disabilities. Kids under five get in free.

International Day against Homophobia Transphobia and Biphobia
Saturday is the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, which is aimed at ending discrimination and violence against lesbian, gay, transsexual, bisexual and queer (LGBTQ) individuals. The Well, a support centre for Hamilton's LGBTQ community, is holding an event at Homegrown Hamilton (27 King William St.) to mark the occasion.
The Saturday soiree —which will also serve as the kickoff for the countdown to June's Hamilton Pride Week — will feature music from singer-songwriter Darcy Feaver, a spoken word performance from Tori Abdul and a special preview from the cast of Behind Closed Doors, a dramatic work that is set to appear in this year's Hamilton Fringe Festival.

Tribes
Theatre Aquarius is putting on Tribes by acclaimed English playwright Nina Raine. The 2010 drama follows Billy, a deaf boy whose family never taught him sign language and instead expected him to learn how to read lips. He falls in love with Sylvia, a woman whose deaf parents taught her how to sign, and who is in the process of losing her own hearing.
Running at Theatre Aquarius (190 King William St.) until May 24, the production will be staged at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets range in price from $32.77 to $89.27.

Waterdown Arts and Music Streetfest
The Waterdown Arts and Music Streetfest runs Sunday. The event will feature 50 art vendors, 15 food trucks, inflatable playgrounds for the kids and a host of musicians playing all day long. The festival, taking place on Dundas Street from Mill Street to Main Street, is set to run from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Fireworks at Dundas Driving Park
Hamilton's biggest May long weekend fireworks display is set to blast off at Dundas Driving Park (near Cross and Alma streets) on Sunday night. Put on by the city and the Dundas Valley Sunrise Rotary Club, the spectacle starts at dusk.
Snacks, soft drinks, and glow sticks will be available to purchase before the fireworks begin.
Organizers remind guests that personal fireworks and sparklers will not be allowed into the park.
If it rains on Sunday night, the event will go ahead on Monday at dusk instead.
