The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a worker on a film set was impaled on Thursday.

The man was working on a film at Bayfront Park when he impaled his lower body on a piece of equipment, paramedics say. He was taken to Hamilton General Hospital in stable condition.

The injury happened around 4:30 p.m. It wasn't life threatening, although "any time someone's impaled, it's serious," said duty commander Ian Wright with Hamilton EMS.

Hamilton police officers investigated and found there was no criminal element to the injury, said Staff Sgt. Mike Cunliffe. That's when the Ministry of Labour took over.
