A man and woman who live together on the west Mountain have been arrested and charged with making child pornography, police announced Friday.

The investigation was launched after Russian Police notified the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre a person was sharing a "fairly substantial-sized" video online, Det. Const. Sarah MacGregor told CBC Hamilton. A local investigation was started, and officers executed a search warrant on Wednesday, where they arrested a 48-year-old man and a 41-year-old female.

The two have been charged with making child pornography and possession of child pornography. MacGregor wouldn't say if the victim was related to the accused, but did say that children's aid is involved in the investigation.

A bail hearing was held on March 20. MacGregor told CBC Hamilton the woman did not make bail, but she wasn't certain about the man. They are set to appear in court again next week.
