Hamilton police are seeking the public's help in the search for a suspect in an armed gas bar robbery.

Around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, police say a man with a bandana covering his face entered the Petro Canada on King Street East at Sherman Avenue North.

"He confronted the lone attendant, brandished a knife and demanded money," said Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Frank Miscione.

He said the clerk handed over an "undisclosed amount" of cash, and the suspect ran away on foot.

No one was injured, Miscione said.

Police are looking for a single suspect in the crime. He is described as male, 20 to 23 years old, with a heavy build. At the time of the robbery, he wore a black jacket and a hood, with a red cloth covering his face.

Miscione asks anyone with information on the incident to call the Hamilton Police Service's Break and Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) unit at 905-546-2849 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
