Hamilton Daystarter: Everything you need to know Tuesday

All Fort Erie-bound lanes on the QEW at Walkers Line are now REOPEN after a early morning fatal crash.

Around 2:15 a.m., a man, alone in his car, drove into the back of a tractor-trailer. The driver was pronounced dead on scene. OPP were on scene at the time helping with a maintenance operation. Because of that, the province's special investigation unit has been called in.

OPP says the lanes will be closed for several hours. Drivers can take an alternate route and avoid the scene by hopping on the highway at Guelph Line.

Here's a weird national special day... Jan. 21 is National Squirrel Appreciation Day. Yup, that's right. Jan. 21 is also National Hugging Day, but I'm not going to suggest you go hug a squirrel. It may not end well.

If you're driving Toronto-bound on the QEW this morning, pay special attention to your driving while passing that crash. Traffic is slower than normal in the EB lanes because the crash is causing a distraction. Proceed on as normal.

No service issues on GO Transit this morning, but the crash will cause delays for bus traffic heading into Hamilton.

At 8:45 a.m.:

All lanes are now REOPEN QEW Fort Erie-bound at Walkers Line in Burlington.

At 8 a.m.:

In town, James Street North is slow at the bottom of the West 5th access to Main Street this hour.

Fennell Aveune is also a bit slow from Garth to Upper Wentworth.

At 7:30 a.m.:

On the QEW Fort Erie-bound at Bartlett Road in Grimsby, a deer-car collision is blocking the centre lane.

In town, traffic is moving well so far.

Environment Canada issued a wind chill warning for Hamilton Tuesday. It feels like -31 C out there right now (and trust me, the cold stings. I should have worn heavier tights).

Without the wind chill, the current temperature is sitting at -20 C, going up to -16 C later today. But again with that wind chill, it's going to feel like the temperature is hovering around the -30 C range all day.

Tonight, a low of -22 C, feeling like -30 C.

More of the same (but sunnier!) on Wednesday.

January 21 marks the first Lincoln Alexander Day in the province of Ontario.

Residents are invited to visit City Hall today for a "Celebration of Life" to share their memories of Lincoln Alexander in a book of remembrance. The book will be available on the second floor between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Linc would have turned 92 today.

Hamilton police say six sexual assaults that occurred between mid-October and this past weekend are likely related. Four of the incidents happened on or near Terrace Drive, which is located between Mohawk Road and Fennel Ave, this weekend.

In most of the incidents, the perpetrator approaches the  victims from behind and slaps or grabs the victim's buttocks.

This recording from a Malaysian swamp at dusk has been judged The Most Beautiful Sound in the World in an online competition.

Dusk by the Frog Pond was recorded at Kubah National Park in Sarawak, Malaysia. Close your eyes and take two minutes to relax while listening to the sounds. It is quite beautiful.

The contest was launched in the fall by sound expert Julian Treasure and the online site BeautifulNow.

Need to let loose tonight? Check out karaoke at the Baltimore House on King William Street. The mic is free as of 8 p.m.
