A British Columbia man has plead guilty for a decades-old sexual assault in Ancaster.

Police say the alleged offences happened from 1969 to 1972 at a property on Powerline Road in Ancaster. Back then, the property was known as the Way-J Boys Ranch of Copetown — a group home for foster children.

The location is now privately owned and the current owners have nothing to do with the allegations, police say.

On Friday, a 68-year-old Salmon Arm, BC man plead guilty to two counts of indecent assault.

He had been in custody since his arrest in August of 2011, and was sentenced to the "equivalent of 40 months" time served, police say. He will remain on the sex offender registry for 20 years and was required to provide a DNA sample.

Police say it's "highly likely" that there are more victims, and they are encouraged to come forward and contact the police victims of crime unit.
