Hamilton DayStarter: Everything you need to know Thursday

Written By Unknown on Kamis, 21 November 2013 | 22.46

Good morning Hamilton, on this cloudy November morning.

Police are on scene right now at a head on crash in Ancaster that has killed one person. Follow CBC Hamilton for updates.

A Stoney Creek man has also been swept up in a police probe into Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's drug use and his alleged links to gangs, shedding light on Hamilton connections to the scandal.

And a downtown Hamilton hallway house is on the move – find out why.

Traffic is snarled in parts of the city this morning because of a multi-vehicle crash in Ancaster.

Paramedics and up to seven fire trucks were called to Trinity and Book Roads at about 6 a.m.

According to EMS Commander Jim Cochrane, there are multiple ambulances on the scene and "several" people, about three to four, trapped in vehicles. One person has died. Trinity Road is closed from between Book Road and Butter Road and will remain closed until about noon.

Follow CBC Hamilton for updates.

Police are also reporting slowdowns on the QEW Niagara Bound at the Fruitland Road exit. And on the QEW Toronto bound at Third Street in St. Catharines, a two-vehicle collision blocking the left lane.

GO Transit isn't reporting any delays on bus or train routes coming out of Hamilton.

Here is a map of ongoing construction projects in the city you might run into this morning:

Today will be mainly cloudy, with a 30 per cent chance of showers this afternoon. The forecasted high is 7 C, dropping down to 5 C overnight.

Expect periods of rain overnight with a light wind that should clear up by morning. Tomorrow's high is forecasted at a (reasonably balmy) 10 C.

A controversial federal halfway house will move from downtown by the end of 2014.

And while federal officials won't say where it will be moved, there are strong indications it will be be leaving the city entirely, which councillors say would be a "historic date." Read all about it in Samantha Cragg's report.

And remember that fire truck that Hamilton donated to Lac Mégantic? On the way there, the team spotted a truck that was on fire 80 kilometres west of Kingston. Of course, they stopped to help put it out.

And here's a kitten that was rescued yesterday by Ladybird Sanctuary. Say it with us — "D'awwwwwww!"

You know those wild bicycle kicks you sometimes see during soccer games? Well, somehow, Calgary Flames goaltender Reto Berra managed to pull one off on skates. Crazy.
