Hamilton police are searching for two masked men who robbed a downtown Dundas jewellery store at gunpoint on Thursday in broad daylight.

Just after 4 p.m., two masked men wearing dark clothes ran into the Martin Jewel and Gift shop at 176 King Street West. The first man pulled out a handgun from under his jacket while the second man pulled an old red brick out of a bag he was carrying.

The man with the brick started smashing out glass display cases and grabbing jewellery while the man with the gun ordered the woman working to get on the floor, police say.

Once she was on the ground, the man with the gun started smashing out cases with the butt of his gun and grabbing jewellery as well.

The suspects ran out of the store carrying the jewellery, and were last seen running east on King Street to an apartment complex and then north through that property over to Hatt Street, police say.

No one was injured. Police are investigating.
