29-year-old male cyclist hit on Highway 8

A cyclist was seriously injured after a collision with a vehicle on Saturday.
Around 2:47 p.m., an 86-year-old female driver drove her vehicle on the paved portion of the south shoulder of Highway 8 east of Jones Road and struck the cyclist, police say.
The cyclist, a 29-year-old man, was sent to hospital with serious injuries.
Police say speed and alcohol are not factors in this collision, but the female driver will face charges.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation. Police ask any witnesses who have not spoken to police to contact Det. Const. Hendrik Vandercraats at 905-546-4755 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
