Unionized LCBO workers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of striking if contract negotiations break down.

The contract for 7,000 workers expired at the end of last month.

Employees are angry over a proposed wage freeze and are demanding better job security.

Ontario Public Service Workers Union spokesman Greg Hamara says there are no plans to walk off the job and that customers shouldn't worry about going dry.

'It is not our intention to strike'—Union spokesman Greg Hamara

"There's no effect on customers in the short or medium term and we just have to see where our negotiations are going. It is not our intention to strike, we do not bargain to strike."

Workers voted 95 per cent in favour of a strike on Tuesday night.

CBC provincial affairs reporter Mike Crawley points out via Twitter that those who love their liquor don't need to start stocking up:

Bargaining resumes Wednesday.
