Go Train service is increasing from every hour to every 30 minutes between Aldershot and Oshawa on the Lakeshore line.

The new schedule begins June 29 and the half-hour service will be available seven days a week.

"Thirty-minute Go Train service along the Lakeshore line will give commuters more flexibility and convenience and will help them get to their destinations quickly," Minister of Transportation Glen Murray said.

Every weekday, more than 100,000 GO riders travel across the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton area along the Lakeshore line, an Ontario government news release explained.

The explansion is the largest in Go Transit's history and is, "a key component of Metrolinx's Regional Transportation Plan, The Big Move," Metrolinx president and CEO Bruce McCuaig added.
