Man shot in Hamilton's east end

One man was sent to hospital Friday night after a fight escalated to a shooting in Hamilton's east end.

Police were called about an altercation at Rosslyn Avenue and Barton Street around 10:20 p.m.

A fight between two men got heated, and one man pulled out a gun and shot the other, police say.

The 25-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The other man was arrested a short distance from the scene. He was charged with aggravated assault and three firearms offences.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
