An armed home invasion led to a brawl in the streets of Hamilton early Friday, police say.
Around 2 a.m., police were called to the area of Stirton Street near Wilson Street to investigate a disturbance.
Police spoke to a group of people who had been fighting in the street. A 21-year-old Hamilton man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Through the investigation, police found out the fight was linked to an alleged home invasion robbery that happened around 30 minutes earlier at a home on Stirton Street.
Police say three male suspects, one armed with a gun, forced their way into the home and stole some cash.
Four people were in the home at the time. They were involved in the fight, police say.
Police spokesperson Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings wouldn't say if the injured person was one of the people that had broken into the home or a homeowner.
"But suffice to say, we believe the two incidents are linked," she said. The investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending.
